TSF Saha Scholarship

Purpose

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and its charitable arm, The Thoracic Surgery Foundation, have launched the TSF Saha Scholarship. The purpose of the award is to provide the opportunity for junior cardiothoracic surgeons from India and cardiothoracic surgery residents from India and from North America (USA and Canada) to attend, learn, and network at the STS Annual Meeting. This award is made possible by the generosity of Sibu P. Saha, MD, MBA.

Eligibility: 

  • Cardiothoracic surgeons who are within three years of first faculty appointment at an academic center in India
  • Cardiothoracic surgery residents enrolled in an ACGME-accredited program in the US or Canada
  • Cardiothoracic surgery residents enrolled in an accredited residency program in India

Past recipients of the Saha Scholarship are not eligible to apply. 

Funding

The TSF Saha Scholarship award covers the cost of registration for the STS Annual Meeting (including the President’s Reception), lodging at a STS Annual Meeting Partner hotel (for three nights), meals, ground transportation (taxi service), and coach class air transportation. International award recipients will receive $2,000, and North American recipients will receive $800. The remaining registration and housing costs will be administered by and paid for by TSF and STS. The value of the TSF Saha Scholarship is up to $3,075.

Application Selection

The TSF Saha Scholarship applications will be initially reviewed and evaluated by the TSF Saha Scholarship Awards Committee. The Committee will make a formal recommendation for funding to the TSF Board of Directors.
